The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) at AUBMC is one of the busiest Emergency Departments (ED) in Lebanon seeing an annual volume of approximately 56,000 patients. ED physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff are highly experienced and trained in emergency medical care and provide timely, high quality care to patients with acute illnesses or injuries. The ED has full-time, round-the-clock, attending level physician coverage by physicians trained in the treatment of all acute care illnesses from medical and surgical cases to pediatric and obstetrics acute care. Our core faculty are all Emergency Medicine trained/American Board of Emergency Medicine certified physicians and our nursing team includes over 84 personnel dedicated to ensure safe and high quality care.
With 37 beds, three trauma bays, extensive monitoring capacity, available bedside ultrasonography, dedicated imaging room, advanced airway equipment and real-time electronic tracking capacity, our ED is equipped to handle the most critical cases.
We offer a unique Toxicology Service covered by medical toxicologists with access to advanced testing and therapeutic resources.
Our Pediatrics Emergency Medicine Service sees over 10,000 patients annually and is staffed by round the clock attending level care under the directorship of an American Board of Emergency Medicine certfied Pediatric Emergency Medicine Specialist.
