Welcome to the Department of Emergency Medicine at AUBMC!
With a team of nationally and internationally recognized Emergency Medicine faculty, our department is bringing cutting edge emergency medicine to Lebanon, from the latest evidence-based clinical practice to leading EM education and burgeoning locally relevant research.
Our department offers round the clock attending level care to all patients. We have built processes that bring the best in evidence-based emergency care to the bedside using the most advanced equipment and resources to deliver timely, lifesaving therapies to over 56,000 cases annually. Our team of highly trained physicians, nurses, residents and ancillary staff can handle all types of emergencies from acute medical/surgical cases to obstetrics and pediatric emergencies. In addition, we offer unique services that include Toxicology Care covered by medical toxicologists and Pediatric Emergency Services with oversight by American Board of Emergency Medicine trained specialist in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
With a vision of promoting excellence in Emergency Medicine not just at our institution but across Lebanon and the region, in 2012 we established the first Emergency Medicine specialist supervised EM residency training program in Lebanon that has since gone on to become one of the first programs in Lebanon to be accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International. Our program is attracting a strongly competitive group of applicants and graduating highly skilled Emergency Medicine specialists who are positioned to change the landscape of EM care across the country and region.
In addition to our clinical and educational mission, our department is committed to promoting globally and locally relevant research. Through their research, our faculty are not only beginning to define local emergency needs and pathology but also studying interventions with practice changing potential.
The Department of Emergency Medicine at AUBMC is proud to be leading the growth of Emergency Medicine at such a pivotal phase in its young history in Lebanon.
