About us

Page Content
AUBMC is dedicated to improving the health of the community in Lebanon and the region through the delivery of exceptional and comprehensive quality care to patients. In line with this mission, AUBMC, through its Patient Education Program, provides patients and their families, access to reliable, evidence-based, and relevant health information at and beyond the point of care.

Patient education, the process of providing health information to patients and their caregivers, is essential for the healing process. It improves the patients’ understanding of health and illness, provides them with the knowledge and skills necessary for self-care, enables them to participate in their plan of care and improves their health outcomes. In fact, patients who receive health education are less likely to develop illnesses and disease-related complications, a major factor in reducing health care costs. They are also more satisfied with the care provided to them and have a better quality of life.

The goal of the Patient Education Program is to provide patients and their caregivers with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to participate in their self-care and consequently improve their health. At AUBMC, health education is provided in different ways such as one-to-one interactions between the patient and the health care provider (doctor, nurse, dietitian, etc.), group sessions, educational presentations, educational videos, educational pamphlets and leaflets, weekly health tips, etc.

Our wide and comprehensive variety of educational pamphlets and leaflets in both English and Arabic are available in hard copy throughout our medical center and can also be accessed through our website. The material in the handouts is evidence-based and is reviewed and approved by our multidisciplinary team of specialists.

As important as it is, our educational material provides general information only. It does not constitute medical advice. Consult your health care provider to determine whether the information applies to you.

We encourage you to visit our website frequently as we are always enriching our library. We also post health tips on the main AUBMC page and on our social media on a regular basis. We strive to be your reference for all health-related information at all times.
