About UsThe Radiologic Technology Training Program (RTTP) at AUBMC offers a theoretical and clinical training of two years in diagnostic imaging modalities to intelligent young men and women, who are seeking a rewarding career and wish to be a member of the health care team.
Radiographers produce diagnostic images of internal structures of the body. They perform investigations varying markedly in their complexity, extending from simple skeletal and chest radiography to sophisticated high-technology investigations, such as computed tomography, ultrasonography, angiography, nuclear medicine, and magnetic resonance imaging. In carrying out these investigations, the radiographer is responsible for the production of high-quality images and for aspects of care towards the patient.
HistoryThe RTTP was established in 1961. It started as a one-year program. In 1970, the program was changed into a two-calendar-year program as new modalities emerged in the field of diagnostic radiology.
MissionRTTP’s mission is to educate and train student radiographers, who will support the highest level of ethical patient care while employing competent technical practices. RTTP is dedicated to providing quality instruction with a commitment to the development of professional competence while at the same time, promoting growth of the student as an individual.
Physical FacilitiesThe theoretical education is provided in the school facilities of the RTTP in the sub-basement of the Medical Center. The school is fully equipped with teaching facilities.
The clinical training is carried out in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. The students are acquainted with the most up-to-date imaging modalities available in the department.
AdmissionThe program starts each fall with the academic year of AUB. At the completion of 24 months of theoretical and clinical education, the successful students are awarded a "Certificate in Radiologic Technology".
