The Nursing Professional Practice Model is the framework for providing nursing care at AUBMC. Nurses at all levels and settings participate in the evaluation and revision of the Professional Practice Model on regular basis. Jean Watson's Theory of Caring and Picker Institute's principles of patient-centered care guide our nursing practice. The Professional Practice Model components are congruent with the American Nurses Association Bill of Rights, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Scope of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance, Principles of Nurse Staffing and American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet® Model.
Five interconnected components surround the patient and family at the center:
1-Patient Care Delivery System
2-Leadership
3-Professional Development
4-Collaborative Practice
5-Research/Research Utilization
Clinical nurses deliver the best quality of care based on the best available evidence respecting patient and family values and cultural beliefs. They coordinate the care delivery supported by a team of expert nurse leaders that encourage them to learn and grow at AUBMC and collaborate with the inter-professional team guided by the professional practice model for best patient outcomes.
