About Us

The Hepatopancreaticobiliary and Liver Transplantation (HPB) Unit offers special expertise in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery along with complex abdominal surgical oncology. 

Specialized care is provided in a wide spectrum of benign and malignant diseases related to liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts. 

The HPB unit additionally provides Liver Transplantation and General Surgery services and is nationally recognized in the region for its high volume performance of complex procedures and excellent clinical outcomes.


Structure

The division is currently headed by Dr. Mohamad Khalife with an expertise in hepatobiliary (liver, pancreas and liver transplantation) and gastrointestinal (stomach, colon, sarcomas and HIPEC) oncology surgery. 

General surgery residents rotate in the division during their five years of training. There are no specialty residents.​


Services/Procedures

The HPB unit emphasizes on a collaborative approach allowing comprehensive treatment, accurate diagnosis, and surgical intervention in an efficient and timely manner. 

Surgeons in the division communicate closely with other specialists and multidisciplinary teams involved in the care of surgical patients, enabling the delivery of an evidence-based and personalized care plan for each patient; cases are discussed in our tumor board meetings with our specialists in different fields in addition to delivering joint treatment with our interventional radiology team.
